General Admission Requirements

  • Program enrollment is based on a first-come, first-served basis by date of completed application. (A completed application includes all items required for enrollment.)
  • Persons seeking admission to a college must be at least 18 years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent. For full-time programs, the applicant must declare an occupational objective and demonstrate reasonable potential for achieving that objective.
  • All persons who are required to register for the Federal Draft under 50 U.S.C. App. Section 453 are not eligible to enroll in any post-secondary school until they have registered with selective service.

Practical Nursing

IMPORTANT Enrollment Information

Those who possess a High School Diploma or a G.E.D., are at least 18 years of age by the date of enrollment, and obtain a passing score on the HESI (Health Educational Systems Inc) Entrance Exam. Classes are formed on a yearly basis and filled with those who successfully complete the screening process. TCAT Crump and Parsons campuses offer three flexible options for completing the Practical Nursing program.

Traditional Practical Nursing Program at Crump:

  • This is a full-time program that consists of 1,296 hours and a diploma award.
  • The classes meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (meeting times for the clinical portion may vary.)
  • The program is a 12-month program.
  • Applications are due in June of each year. Offers are made in July, and class begins in early September.

Hybrid Practical Nursing Program at Crump:

  • This is a part-time program so it takes longer to complete.
  • Class meets in person on Tuesday evenings and Saturday. Other coursework is completed independently online. (Meeting times for the clinical portion may vary.)
  • The program is a 16-month program.

Hybrid Practical Nursing Program at Parsons:

  • This is a full-time program.
  • Class meets in person on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8 am-2:30pm.
  • It is optional to meet in person or online Wednesday and Friday.
  • Meeting times for the clinical portion may vary.
  • This is a 12-month program. Classes begin in June and finish in May.

 

Steps to enrolling:

  • Take and pass the HESI test
  • Complete online course application
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Receive invitation to be in class
  • Nursing packet is distributed
  • Attend mandatory orientation
  • Then class begins!
